The government and private entrepreneurs of Cochabamba and Beni are articulating a plan to re-establish foreign trade, through the Ichilo-Mamoré waterway. This river route is one more alternative for Bolivia’s exit to international markets. Soy, corn, sorghum, rice, beef, chestnuts, cocoa and forest products are the most significant opportunity for commercial entry to export markets, in the next decade the foreign trade operation could generate more than $1 billion per year.
