According to the results of the Continuous Employment Survey (ECE), which depends on the National Institute of Statistics (INE), in the second quarter of 2020, 20.7% of the total working population of Santa Cruz is employed in commerce. It is followed by manufacturing industry with 14.9%; transportation and storage with 11.2%; lodging, services and meals with 10.0%; education services with 5.9%; agriculture, livestock, hunting and fishing, and forestry with 5.1%. The remaining 23.6% corresponds to other branches of economic activity. The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Santa Cruz was 12.18 billion dollars until 2019.
